| Bio | Hello, I am Luisa. I was born in Medellin, Colombia, and moved to the U.S. when I was nine years old, along with my nuclear family (parents and one younger brother). In the U.S. I’ve lived in (Miami) Florida, North Carolina, Vermont, and Washington D.C. After graduating from undergrad with a degree in Nutrition Science, I served as a health education Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala from 2013 to 2015. Subsequently, from 2017 to 2020 I worked as a restaurant manager and confirmed a strong interest for working directly with people and helping to improve existing (organizational and training) systems. Then, with a desire for more job stability, credibility, and opportunities… in 2021 I decided to go back to school to pursue a masters degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, which I completed in 2023. Upon graduation, I applied for and was selected as a Presidential Management Fellow Finalist, and eventually was offered a job to work with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the office of Employee and Labor Relations; a position which lasted about 18 months due to the dismantling of USAID in early 2025. Along the way, my one constant goal (through every job and season of my adult life) has been to live an examined life and help others do the same. I identify as a deeply intuitive, highly sensitive person, with strong observational skills, and an ability to see issues/topics from a multitude of perspectives. I’m also kind of obsessed with self-reflection and self-improvement. I discovered Martha’s work after using the tools found in the book “The Way Out” to help cure (mostly) my chronic back pain by using somatic tracking and other mindfulness tools… which then got me more interested on the power of the mind (and specifically the right brain) and how I could learn and use more tools to challenge self-limiting beliefs and manifest and create the life I want. This all unfolded in the past 2 years. I picked up FYONS for the first time o/a February 2024 but didn’t stick with it at the time because the questions were too confronting and the truths rising too inconvenient. But it kept calling at me… and I picked it up again o/a March 2025. As I read it, I started to feel a greater calling to turn more and more towards my essential self, something I’m committed to doing now… which brings me to WLCT and the work that I want to continue to do for myself, and to help others use these tools to turn towards and listen to their essential selves. |
